Happy Birthday Flower Card

Happy Birthday Flower Card

This is the card I made this week. The month of February is so busy for me. There are at least 4 birthdays in my family including my youngest son's birthday. He is turning one! I am still working on his birthday party invitations. I will post them as soon as I finish :) Anyway... this card is just the first of the month.

I used clear embossing powder to preserve the white color of the glossy card after applying distress inks. It is a pretty cool technique.I also used white embossing power, because I decided to add the dots and the lines after I had already applied the distress inks. Then, I used AC ribbon to add some dimension to the card.

On the inside, I may put a gift card or cash, I have not decided yet :)
So, what do you think about?

Have you heard of COPIC MARKERS? ... Well I heard of them a few months ago and fell in love with them :) I am still learning about them but they are so much fun to work with. You can even get a certification to learn how to use them, that is how cool they are :)

This is the first few things I learned about them:
1. They blend beautifully
2. You can color pretty much anything because they use alcohol ink
3. They will last forever, since you can refill them and change their tips
4. They are expensive ($4.99 to $6.99 each)

I saw Jennifer McGuire use them in her blog one time around last Christmas. So, guess what I did with the gift certificate from Hobby Lobby I got for Christmas?...You are right! I bought some Copics :) I followed Jennifer McGuire's color suggestions to buy my first set. I got 12 markets. Good thing Hobby Lobby had all markers 30% that week :) Then, this Christmas...guess what I did with a coupon to Jerry's Artarama and some Christmas money?... You are right! I got some more :) So here is the list of markers I got:

So in the Pink family I have:
R32 - Peach
R35 - Coral
R29 - Lipstick Red

in the Blue I have:
B02 - Robin's Egg Blue
B04 - Tahitian Blue
B06 - Peacock Blue

in the Blue-Violets:
BV000 - Iridescent Mauve
BV11 - Soft Violet
BV17- Deep Reddish Blue
BV23 - Grayish Lavender
BV25 - Grayish Violet
BV31 - Pale Lavender

in the Violets:
V01 - Heath
V06 - Lavender
V15 - Mallow
V17 - Amethyst

in the Blue-Greens:
BG05 - Holiday Blue

in the Greens:
G07 - Nile Green

in the Yellow Greens:
YG06 - Yellowish Green
YG09 - Lettuce Green
YG13 - Chartreuse

in the Yellows:
Y17- Golden Yellow

in the Yellow-Reds:
YR68 - Orange

in the Earths:
E37 - Sepia

I also have the Colorless Blender 0 (number zero)

Anyway...I will add more information about Copic Markers as I learn more about them :) I will also post cards that I have made using Copic Markers.

Do you have Copic Markers? Do you have any suggestions on how to use them?

"Congratulations" - Graduation Card

"Congratulations"- Graduation Card

This is a graduation card I made for one of our church friends. He graduated in December and his graduation party was last week. So, I had the opportunity to make a graduation card :)
-
I wanted to make a gift card holder/greeting card, but I have been having some mixed emotions about gift cards. Gift cards are great when you really know what that person likes or you know that person likes to explore new things...Cash is for someone you don't know very well or you think they would save money for something bigger than what you would get them...Anyway, I think that what matters is the fact that you gave something to someone:)
I like both, gift cards (to my favorite or new stores and cash :)
-
So, for this card, I wanted to give cash in a creative way.
I used my Silhouette to cut the cap and the frame.
I used a stamp that says "Congratulations to you" but I only inked the "Congratulations" part of the phrase.
Then I used Versamark ink to stamp on the outside of the frame. I used the same stamp to decorate the envelope. For the envelope, I used silver embossing powder.
I decided to use a $20 bill as a scroll or certificate. To secure the bill, I used a brad though the ribbon and the card, then I tided it to the rolled-up bill.
-
What do you think about the card?

Thank you - Card No. 6

Hello! ... is Thursday again. New card! Here it is:
Thank you - Card No. 6
(gift card holder)
-
-
I used two stamps for the focal point. "Thank you" is from Stampin' Up and the one around it is from Inkadinkadoo. The blue ink is from ColorBox and the ribbon...I don't know :) I think it came from a gift bag or something like that :)
-
If you slide down the ribbon, the card opens up and it has a pocket to place a gift certificate or a picture. This is what the inside of the card looks like.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July eveyone :)
-
Today has been a good day. It is Sunday...church day! and it is 4th of July which means that there was a special at church. I love specials! The praise and worship team and choir of Tree of Life Church sang a few freedom songs including the National Anthem. It was awesome!
My husband was a part of it. He did great. I am so pround of him.
God is so good and his blessing are endless :)

-
We may not get the chance to go see the fireworks at the park tonight. I will post later about it if we do decide to go, but I would like to share with you a picture I took last year on 4th of July. It is of my son watching the firework. I think is pretty cute :) It was the first time that I was able to get an OK shot of fireworks. I would love to figure out how to take better pictures at night.
I just need to practice...I know :)

You've blessed my life in so many ways

You've bless me in so many ways - Card No. 4
I am happy again now that I had a chance to make a new item for my blog. I need to set up a day to create things and upload them so you can see them. Right now I think it will be on Thursdays.
-
I love making cards. I have always loved to make things and give them away. I rarely keep anything for myself :) I have made things, from cards to mini albums to polymer clay jewelry to melting glass. How many things have I kept?... maybe an average of one per category. If you ask my family...hey have many of each :) I love giving stuff to people!
-
So today's card is a gift card holder. Believe it or not, I made it from scraps of paper I had left from a couple of other cards. I wanted to make something small, quick and simple, so this is what I ended up with. Hope you like it!
-
This is a pic from what the inside of the card looks like.
The stamp I used says: You've blessed my life in so many ways Thank you. So, I inked the first part for the outside of the card and then the "Thank you" part for the inside.
-
This was also the first time I had used white core cardstock to fold the card and I don't think I like it. I may use it to embelish something or for a scrapbook pages :)
-
This is it for now.
Please leave a comment.
